Kidsline is a long running service of Lifeline Aotearoa. Lifeline provides free community helplines, 0800 LIFELINE, Suicide Crisis Helpline – 0508 TAUTOKO and Kidsline, 0800 KIDSLINE as well as text support service HELP (4357) which are answered by qualified counsellors and trained volunteers from centres in Auckland and Christchurch. Lifeline also provide specialist counselling, corporate and volunteer training, online support for workplaces and coordinate suicide prevention and postvention activities in the Wellington districts.

Kidsline has over 70 telephone counsellors (Buddies) run by a supervision and training team and overseen by the Kidsline Manager. Kidsline counsellors and staff work within Kidsline’s values: Empathy, Respect, Empowerment, Self Awareness, Confidentiality, Safety and Integrity.
Kidsline is best described as a free, brief-intervention, near-peer telephone counselling service.

Our Mission Statement:

To help, support and empower the children of New Zealand.

Kidsline is not a government funded services. We rely on donations, grants and sponsorship to answer the phones.
